Akşehir is a town and district of Konya Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The town is situated at the edge of a fertile plain, on the north side of the Sultan Dagh. The town's landmarks include the alleged tomb of Nasreddin Hoca, the tomb of Seydi Mahmut, other monuments and old Turkish houses. Between 4 July and 10 July each year, commemorations with concerts and other social activities are held to the memory of Akşehir's famous resident, Nasreddin Hodja. With its rich architectural heritage, Akşehir is a member of the Norwich-based European Association of Historic Towns and Regions. Conditions for participation: The groups are requested to arrive in Akşehir on 05 July 2022 - 12:00 and depart on 10 July 2022 - 12:00, after breakfast. The number of participants must be 40 people with driver, musicians, leaders. The groups will prepare 5-10 minutes programs. All groups have to prepare minimum 2 different performances. Each group should bring flag of their country with them. We prefer dance groups with live music, recorded music also acceptable. After completing an application form, please, send us back by email minimum 6 digital pictures and a short description of your group and videos or links and descriptions of your performances. We request a book showing your country's Folk Dance clothes and a local big doll model of your country symbol. Participation fee: 30 Euro per person in the group up to 40 people. Free place at every 26-th person (25+1 free of charge) Participation fee includes: The Groups will stay at hostel in double an triple rooms. The rooms have bathroom and refrigerator. Gifts provide for each person is an attendance certificate. Pocket money will not be paid to the groups by Festival Committee. We will give 250 lt diesel. Any group willing to participate must submit an Application form. Approved groups pay in advance a 10% guarantee fee, which is to be deducted at the final payment.
