International Festival “ABANICO”- Festival of popular music and dance in Sofia, Bulgaria, under the auspices of the Department of Education of the Embassy of Spain and the mayor of Sofia.
Goals of the competition:
The festival is organized by the Musical Agency "Artvoices" Sofia. To show all art as a powerful opportunity for communication and connections between people from all of the world To build international contacts between many different countries from all the world.
Festival will take place in a beautiful capital of Bulgaria- Sofia, where singers and dancers, musicians – pianists, guitarists, violinist and ext. from different countries will participate in.
Choreographic Art (Groups, collectives, ensembles, show-entertainers, soloists, etc.)
Modern Dance (Jazz, Modern, Neoclassical, etc.)
National Dance (Folk Dance)
Social Dances (Swing, Argentine tango, Zoug, Kizomba, Bachata, Salsa, Samba, Merengue, Reggaeton, Hustle, etc.).
Mixed styles of Dance
Instrumental Music (Ensembles, Orchestras, Quartettes, Trios, Duettes and individual performers)
Ethnical Music, etc.
Vocal (Choirs, Ensembles of different styles of execution, Quartettes, Trios, Duettes and Soloists)
Children, adult creative groups and individual performers with no age limit can take part in the Festival.

Conditions of participation:
- For the competition, the participants must prepare two acts accompanied by background music (max. 4 minutes each).
Every participant will present two performances
Participants of a collective group performing separately are considered as a separate participant.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to use and distribute audio, video clips and other kind of production, produced during the competition activities.
Team leaders are responsible for the members of the group during the period of mass Festival events and holiday.
All contestants will be given time to rehearse on stage. The rehearsal time allocated to each contestant will be only 1 minute.
Main directions of the contest:
Every participant will perform a song by their choice, but one by Spanish language, or in any romance language as French, Portuguese, Italian or Romanian. Other languages could be accepted too for the second song.
For guitarists, pianists, violinists and other musicians and dancers is obligatory to play/dance music from Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian and Portuguese or Brazilian authors or with Spanish character and motives program until 8 minutes
Musicians - guitar, piano, violin, flute, cello, woodwinds, brass and more.
Choirs, Vocal groups and soloists
Dance ensembles and soloists - classic, modern ballet, Latin dance, acrobatic rock'n'roll
/obligatory to dance by music with Spanish character or motives – for example. Spanish dance by Tchaikovsky /
Prizes and awards:
The participants of the competition are given the following title:
- Grand Prix “Abanico ” – one in every category /singers and dancers, musicians
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Spanish song and dance
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of French song
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Italian song
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Romanian song
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Portugalian song
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Classic
- Grand Prix “Abanico” the best performance of Jazz
All participants will receive certificates and medals of participation.
Prizes and awards of the festival are: Originally designed trophies for the first, second and third place in each category.
There will be first Diploma awards also.
1-hour free studio recording in studio in Sofia
Invitations for the musical festivals in Barcelona, Spain and Bulgaria. /without participation fee and free participation/
Winners of the competition are awarded with corresponding certificates, confirming the title.
Sponsors have the right to set up additional prizes and awards independently from the rewarding jury.
The organizational committee of the competition chooses the members of the international jury.
The jury rates the performances of the competition by voting secretly on a scale of 50 to 100.
The winner of the Grand Prix take a part of the jury or in the concerts in the next competition next year like guest.
Judges will not be allowed to judge contestants from their country

- Stage presence and technicality
Compositional structure of performance
Artistry, disclosure of the artistic image, scenic culture
Level of difficulty of executive performance (dynamics, emotions)
Compliance with the performance capabilities of the repertoire and artists age category
Artistry, facial expressions, disclosure of the artistic image
Creative individuality (for soloists)
Originality of the performance
1st day – arrival of participants. There is possible the next excursion: Visit to Sofia. Tour around the most interesting points of the Bulgarian capital: Sveta Nedelja Square, the Russian Church of St. Nicholas, the Basilica of St. Sophia, the Ivan Vazov Popular Theater, the Royal Palace Square and the Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Dinner at the hotel.
2nd day – Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to National Palace of Culture, competition, Dinner at the folk restaurant.
3rd day – breakfast at the hotel, it is possible the Excursion with guide in Spanish to the Rila Monastery: Founded by the anchorite Ivan Rilski in the tenth century and since its inception has been the historical center of the Bulgarian national culture. Inside we can admire the best artistic samples of this civilization. The monastery is considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Return to Sofia, in the afternoon gala-concert, dinner at the hotel.
4th day – Breakfast. Departure (Room Check-out till 10am).
The organizers reserve the right to cancel the Festival 30 days before the start of the festival week in case the minimum number of participants is missing. In the case of contributions already paid, the amount will be reimbursed in full to the participants.
- 200 Euro per person - Accommodation in 3/4 room
- 215 Euro per person - Accommodation in double room
- 255 Euro per person - Accommodation in single room
- Groups of 25 persons: One group leader free of charge!
Additional payment for participants:
Solists: 50€ each category, for additional category – 20 euro
Duets, small groups (3-5 people): 30€/person Groups (over 6 people): 15€/person
Salsa classes with Spanish instructor –5€/person
Participation fee includes:
- Stay in a 4 **** spa Hotel Dragalevtsi or 3*** Hotel Rila (in the heart of the city) in double-, triple- rooms (4 days/3 nights.)
2x food service per day (breakfast and dinner. drinks is not included except mineral water). one dinner is in folklore restaurant with traditional menu, to feel more from our Bulgarian hospitality

Participation fee does not include:

- Transport charges
- Transfer Airport -Sofia- Airport. If you wish, we can arrange a transfer for an additional payment. Participants arriving separately should pay separately.

Any group willing to participate must submit an Application form.
Approved groups pay in advance a 10% guarantee fee to EAFF, which is to be deducted at the final payment.
