I am a regional folk singer dedicated to preserving India’s folk culture. Many traditional songs and musical forms are fading away as generations change, so I have taken it as my mission to rediscover and preserve them for the future. With my band “winy Live N Loud,” I collect, perform, and promote regional folk music from Bengal, Assam, Nepal, Rajasthan, and other parts of India. I play the Ektara, a one-string instrument deeply connected to Bengali folk heritage. Menoka-The song "Menoka Mathay Dilo Ghomta" is a Bengali traditional folk song. It describes Menoka, a woman who wears a veil (ghomta), and uses traditional and mystical imagery to portray scenes of rituals and cultural practices. The lyrics blend themes of marriage, rituals, and mysticism in a rhythmic and repetitive style, which is a common feature in many types of folk music, not just Bengali. This repetition helps create a captivating and memorable melody, which is a characteristic of folk music traditions worldwide.
