Among the main activities of the children from the "Authentic folklore" school at the "Prosveta - 1927" Community center, Vidima area, Apriltsi (Lovech region, Bulgaria) and their artistic leader is to find, preserve and revive the customs of their native region. Specific for the town of Apriltsi is the winter custom named "Daylada" (singing to the rings) which is performed on the New year celebration (Vasilyovden) by the river. The night before Vasilyovden, girls and boys gather to pour water into the copper. It is decorated with basil, geranium and red thread. Barley and the rings of the participants in the custom are placed in it. One of the girls takes out the rings and the others sing. This is how the locals guess what man the girls will get married. "Daylada" brings a lot of thrilling excitement and expectations of girls and boys. The custom ends with a wonderful round-dance.
