The Comic Opera for Children from Bucharest, Romania, became an Absolute European Champion of Folklore for 2014 at the VI European Championship of Folklore Euro Folk 2014. The event was held from 3 to 13 July at the stages of the South Black Sea coast – Burgas, Nessebar and Saint Vlas. More than 70 folklore groups from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Latvia and other European countries took part. The Romanian performers won convincingly the big title and Grand Prix “Golden Orpheus”, also with a check for 1000 Euro. The Competent jury: the folklorist - Maestro Georgi Yankov, the choreographer - Valentin Halvadzhiev, and the screenwriter and director - Mariana Nutsova, chose the greatest groups according to the criterias of the Regulations of the Championship system. Tho Comic Opera for Children from Bucharest, which took the Golden “Orpheus” for folklore, gained 37,80 point. The folklore group “Izvorash” from Sipoteni, the region of Kalarash, Moldova, were ranked at second place with Silver “Orpheus” for folklore with 37,60 point. At the third place with Bronze “Orpheus” for folklore were ranked BDA Teiksmina Teiksmas studia from Riga, Latvia, with 37,3 points. At fourth position with 33,60 points and the title “European championship of Folklore” was ranked “Gadulitsa” folklore ensemble from Kazanlak. The fifth place is devided with equal number of 33,5 points - between two collectives – Folklore ensemble Kodreiy at the House of Culture in Kalarash, Moldova, and Female singing group “Na visoko” at “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” Community Center, Staovcha village, Region of Blagoevgrad. At sixth place were ranked the dancers drom BDA Teiksmina The concert Organization AVE Sol from Riga, Latvia with 33,3 points, and at seventh – Studio “Kaskad” from Osiniki, Russia with 31,3 points. During the Championship were granted dozens of golden, silver and bronze medals, diplomas for discovery, for continuity between generations, diplomas for preservation of the folk heritage and folk arts, etc. In the program of Euro folk 2014” were included 6 concerts of 5 hours each, and a parade of the participants. The official closure took place on 12 July with a Gala concert of the winners, where the champions were announced and the awards were granted. The announcer of the Championship, Vesela Kancheva, was dressed in a hundred-years-old national costume from Dobrudzha region, which is a gift from the dancers from “Dobrudzha” Folklore Group from Silistra, and the president of EAFF - Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov, officially closed the Championship and wished good luck and successful performances of the participants.
