First day of the IV Championship of Folklore “Jiva Voda – Euro Folk 2015” went with rich and various program. Organizers of the festival are the European Association of Folklore Festivals – EAFF, Euro Folk Academy and the Municipality of Hissarya.
The Official Opening Ceremony was led by Director of the festival – Mr. Georgi Topuzliyski, Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov – the President of European Association of Folklore Festivals, the Major of the Municipality of Hissarya - Eng. Penka Ganeva.
More than 55 groups and individual performers from Bulgaria and abroad appeared on the scene of “Ivan Vazov - 1904” Community Center – Hissarya. Over 2000 amateurs will show their singing and dancing talent from 4th to 8th of June 2015.
Performing level of the groups is evaluated according to the Championship system of the European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF) by the professional jury consisting Maestro Georgi Yankov – Musical expert, Mr. Georgi Hinov – Associate Professor, choreographer and art director of Northern Ensemble for Folklore Songs and Dances and Mrs. Mariyana Nutsova – Director (filmmaker) in television “Euro Folk”.
46 groups and individual performers deservedly received medals – 15 golden, 16 silver and 15 bronze. The first three nominated groups for Grand Prix Golden “Orpheus”, the title Absolute Balkan Champion of Folklore and check of 1000 Euro, provided by the organizers became clear.
The nominated groups are – Group for Balkan Urban Folklore “Salzitsa” at Day Centre for elderly people – Hissarya; Dance Group “Hissarski Ritmi’ at “Ivan Vazov - 1904” Community Centre – Hissarya; Representative Dance Group “Chavdar” at Youth Centre – Pazardzhik. Art director of the group “Chavdar” - Boris Ganchev was conferred the title “Maestro”.
Except the emotional Bulgarian performances, unforgettable appearance in the scene left the first international guests of the Championship – performers in the Dance Group “πρόοδος (Progress)” from Aiani, Greece. They proved to be worthy competitors of Bulgarian groups in the competition and deservedly won the gold medal, laureate title and honors for significant contributions and storage of the Balkan Folklore Art.
The rich festival program is continuing on 5th, 6th and 7th of June on the scene of the “Summer Theatre”. We are expecting Mr. Rosen Plevneliev - the President of Republic of Bulgaria to attend the Official Closing Ceremony of the Championship.
In bad weather conditions the concerts will be held in the hall of “Ivan Vazov - 1904” Community Center.
