The ninth edition of the International folklore festival "Macedonian sun" gave a stage for performance of 15 groups, to show their culture and traditional folklore arts. From 13 to 17 August in Ohrid non-professional artists from 8 countries sang and danced. Most representatives - 4 groups - came from Poland, 2 groups came from Estonia Slovakia, Turkey, Croatia and 1 from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.The 602 participants, residents and guests of Ohrid, who attended the official opening ceremony on 14 August, were greeted by Antonio Dimitrovski, president of CIOOF (Union of folk ensembles in Macedonia SOFAM). A guest of the event was also Faruk Alkaya - president of the IOF in Turkey.At the end of the third festival evening on 16th of August, the director of the festival Mr. Milenko Andreski thanked the participants for taking part in The IX International Folklore Festival “Macedonian Sun” by giving them certificates and all the groups had chance to exchange gifts and contacts with each other.The festival evening was held near the oldest tree - Cinar. Besides presenting their traditional songs and dances, the participants showed interesting costumes. The atmosphere of the folklore event was more than celebratory and cohesive.The groups from around the world had the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and enjoy the beauty of Ohrid. In their free time, groups visited many historical and cultural monuments, cruising to St. Naum with boat, visiting The City Of Bones also the Cave Church, St. Kalishta and Vevcani Springs in Struga.
