The jubilee XX Stara planina fest "Balkan Folk", VII Bulgarian National Championship "Euro Folk" and the first edition of the World Cup of Folkloore "Veliko Tarnovo 2016"are already recorded in the history of folk events. The results of the competition appearances: 126 collectives left with golden, silver and bronze medals and 12 formations were nominated for Grand prix in both folklore competitions. Dance ensemble "Shareno gerdanche" at Targovishte won the first place in VII Bulgarian National Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk". The group was awarded with Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus", the Golden Medal of the Championship, the title Absolute national champion for 2016 and a check for 1000 lev, provided by the European Association of Folklore Festivals. Absolute vice champion for 2016, the Silver medal and the Silver "Orpheus" went to Ensemble for folk dances and songs "Folklorika" from Sofia. The third place, the Bronze medal and the Bronze "Orpheus" were for vocal-instrumental ensemble "Zdravets" - Plovdiv. The first winner of the first edition of World Cup folklore "Veliko Tarnovo 2016" became Dance ensemble "Nestini" at the University of Forestry – Sofia. The big Cup of the forum, diploma certifying the first place and a voucher worth 1000 Euro, provided by EAFF for participation in the World championship of Folklore World folk (validity period of the voucher - 2 years), received the leader of the group Ilian Yordanov. The awards were granted by Prof. Nikolay Kravtsov, Dean at St. Petersburg University for Arts and Culture and Chairman of the jury committee of the World championship of Folklore “World folk”. Second place, diploma and a voucher for 500 Euro for participation in World folk won Group „AS” at the National Children's Palace in Bucharest, Romania, with artistic director Mona Teodoresko. Third position in the final ranking of the World Cup of Folklore and voucher for 300 Euro won the Folklore Ensemble "Voyvodinovo" from the village of Voyvodintsi, Plovdiv region. With performances of authentic and processed songs and dances, local customs and colorful costumes, over 400 groups with more than 8000 participants from Buglaria, Russia, Iran, Romania and Montenegro affirmed the three forums as some of the largest folklore events in Europe. Accompanying events of the Festival, the Championship and the Cup were the exhibition of drawings by children from 7 kindergartens from Veliko Tarnovo, with subject "The memories of my grand mother"; parade of local and foreign groups; folklore outdoor dance party "Ha, tropnete, da tropnem!"; Roundtable on subject "The role of universities for preservation of the World Heritage". In memory of the founder of Stara Planina Fest "Balkan Folk", Musical feasts "Euro folk" and the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF Iliyan Nikolov, more than 3000 followers of his deeds, initiated by their signatures the establishment of а monument, which was revealed personally by the General Director of UNESCO, Mrs. Irina Bokova. The significant event that took place from 12 to 22 May, was organized by the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF and Euro Folk Academy, with the exclusive support of Veliko Tarnovo.
