About 8000 performers from Bulgaria, Russia, Romania, Montenegro and Iran showed the richness of their cultural traditions in the XXth edition of Stara planina Fest "Balkan Folk 2016". The large folklore forum was held from 12th till 22nd of May in the old Bulgarian capital - Veliko Tarnovo.
One of the most important accompanying events was the inauguration of the Monument of Iliyan Nikolov - creator of Stara planina fest "Balkan Folk", Musical feasts "Euro folk" and the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF. The Secretary General of UNESCO Mrs. Irina Bokova personally presented the monument. She visited Veliko Tarnovo invited by the president of EAFF Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov.
