3 April 2019
On April 29, the International Dance Day titled "Dance and Spirituality" will be celebrated.
The theme is provoked by the ability of the dance to reach the human soul. The magical combination of music and movements creates unity of the body and mind and reveals the inner dimensions of human, uniting it with the universe. The International Dance Council CID is the organizer of the initiative.
The idea of celebrating the Dance Day dates back to 1982, aiming to attract people's attention to this type of art. The day is dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, French ballet master, a reformer and theoretician of choreographic art, who is considered as the "Father of Modern Ballet". The day is celebrated in many countries around the world by millions of dancers, both professional and amateur. On April 29 each year, dance companies, dance schools and individuals organize an activity aimed at attracting different audiences to the initiative.
The International Dance Council CID is an official organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world. Its members are the most prominent federations, associations, schools, companies and individuals in more than 170 countries. CID was founded in 1973 within the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where it is based.
