Kaloyan Nikolov - President of the European Association of Folklore Festivals attended the International Bakhshi Art Festival (5-10 April 2019) in Termez, Uzbekistan. The Grand opening ceremony of the festival was headed by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on April 6th. 

The event was initiated by the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the support of Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, under the auspices of UNESCO. The festival was live broadcasted on National Television, hundreds of media around the world covered the event. 

Large scale event became stage of appearance of participants from 74 countries. Foreign guests were shown the region's typical arts. The aim of the festival is to increase the public's interest in culture, to strengthen relations between the nations, expanding the circle of creative communication that will enable new international cooperation.

The Grand Prix of the contest was awarded to Uljan Baybusinova from Kazakhstan.  Sali Bukhovyan and Shaban Kosin from Bulgarian village Breznitsa presented the the epos "Budinska kralitsa" (Budin Queen), which tells the story of the fall of the Vidin kingdom under Ottoman domination, and was awarded the special certificate for preserving the old national traditions.

During the festival, an exhibition about the fifteen regions of Uzbekistan was held. On 88 hectares, 15 professionally equipped scenes were set, where folk groups took part throughout the day and presented the typical crafts and products for each region.

The guests of the festival were fascinated by the musical performances revealing the millennial history of ancient cultures. Colorful costumes and instruments - a world's folklore heritage, passed from generation to generation.
