More than 200 folklore groups and individual performers will take part in the VIII Balkan Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk - Jiva Voda". The town of Hisarya for eight consecutive year in the period from June 6th to 10th becomes the center of folklore art. Groups from Bulgaria and Romania  will attend the concerts in the "Ivan Vazov 1904" Community center (Hisarya).
Official guests during the opening ceremony of the event were: Eng. Penka Doykova - the mayor of Hisarya municipality, Mr Georgi Topuzliyski - director of the Balkan Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk - Jiva Voda" and secretary of "Ivan Vazov 1904" Community center, Mr Kaloyan Nikolov - chief producer of Euro Folk Academy and president of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF. Participants in the Balkan Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk - Jiva Voda" will compete in 9 categories and 2 age groups. According to the performance level, participants will receive Golden, Silver and Bronze medals and nominations for the Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus" as well. The winner of the Championship will receive the Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus", the title Absolute Balkan Champion of Folklore in 2019 and money prize in amount of 1000 Euro, provided by the Municipality of Hisarya.
This year, the competition program of the Championship will be accompanied by the event "Shared traditions - traveling through the time". New initiative's purpose is to promote and present to the guests of the Championship and the tourists in Hisarya, one of the most typical and well-preserved elements in the traditional culture of the town and the region. The event will be filmed and presented in the overview movie for the eighth edition of the Championship.
To illustrate the cultural heritage of the region of Hisarya, in the lobby of "Ivan Vazov - 1904" Community Center are situated:
Ethnographic exhibition which includes ancient children's, women's and men's costumes from different settlements in the municipality of Hisarya; home tissue; adornments; mummers' masks; household items and ritual props from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century; a corner for demonstrations and trainings of women's domestic activties; a corner for the kids "Draw and learn" for drawing traditional embroideries and national costumes.
There will also be presented the photo exhibition named "Folklore - shared knowledge. Past, present, future". This year the project includes more than 100 photos captured by the official photographer of EAFF - Georgi Nutsov. In 2018, the photo exhibition has been showed in the programs of numerous events, one of them was the Seventh session of the General Assembly of States parties in the Convention of safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, that was held in UNESCO's headquarters in Paris, France. 
For the eighth time, together with the Championship is held the Contest for traditional breads. At the end of the folklore forum, breads will be donated to the "St. Ivan Rilski" retirement home in the village of Starosel.
Organizers of the Balkan Championship of Folklore are the Municipality of Hisarya, "Ivan Vazov 1904" Community center - Hisarya and Euro Folk Academy. The event is conducted under the auspices of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF, that includes 450 members - folklore festivals, held all over the world.
