Amphitheater in one of the most ancient towns Nessebar is the stage for the first concert and the official opening ceremony of the XI European Championship of Folklore "Euro folk" 2019. More than 1,000 performers from 10 countries will take part in the concerts in Nessebar, Pomorie and Sveti Vlas in the period from June 27th to July 7th. 

Among the official guests of the opening ceremony were: President of European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF and the World Association of Folklore Festivals - WAFF, Mr Kaloyan Nikolov;  Chief expert in "Culture" Department of Nessebar Municipality - Mrs Kremena Stoyanova; Doctor Honoris Causa of Folk Music and Dance by Ansted University UK, producer and choreographer, Deputy chairman of 6 Commission at the International organization of folklore art  IOV World UNESCO - Mr Valko Lyubenov. 

Special guests were Mr Sarvarbek Foziljonov and Mr Jasurbek Shermuhammedov from the Ministry of Culture in Republic of Uzbekistan. 

Chief expert in "Culture" Department of Nessebar Municipality read a Congratulatory address on behalf of the Mayor of Nessebar Municipality - Mr Nikolay Dimitrov. He welcomed the organizers and participants with the words: "Conducting an event of this kind, in such an ancient place, illustrates the importance of protecting not only the architectural and historical values, but also the spirit and culture of songs, dances and customs. I express my support for your heartiness and dedication in the presentation of grandeur of folklore in the its full magnificence."

President of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov announced the Championship as opened, wishing the participants from Bulgaria and abroad to present the country's folklore riches in the most worthy way.

The rich competition program was complemented by a one-hour concert of colorful rhythms and a lot of dynamics presented by the guests from the Song and Dance Ensemble at the Tashkent District Department of Culture, Uzbekistan.

Hundreds of residents and guests of Nessebar applauded the performances of foreign choreographies and the presentation of authentic and processed folklore from all ethnographic regions in Bulgaria.

The participants in the contest, which started immediately after the ceremony of the official opening of the folklore forum, presented themselves worthy and made a serious request not only for winning high awards with diplomas, titles, medals and prizes, but also for the Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus", the title Absolute World Champion and a check of 1000 Euro, provided by the organizers.

Performers are rated in 9 categories, 2 age groups by 3 criteria. According to their achievements, the participants will also receive points for ranking in the World Ranking List of Folklore.

The championship is organized within the Musical Feasts "Euro Folk", under the auspices of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF and Euro Folk Academy. The friendly hosts of the forum are the resorts Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Pomorie and Sveti Vlas. The main media partner of the Music Championship is the Internet TV "Euro Folk".
