The third edition of the International Scientific Conference "Visual anthropology" was held from 28th till 30th of August in Veliki Novgorod (Russia). 180 people from 27 Russian cities and 7 other countries took part in the conference. Foreign participants came from Austria, Armenia, Belarus, UK, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine. 

Participants engaged in the field of modern urban studies have discussed the visual parameters of human culture with an emphasis on the role of the university in the creation, preservation and development of the urban environment. During the work of six sections, a round table and a discussion seminar, they examined the key problems of the city as a complex anthropological structure, presented to the scientific community the results of their research and development in the field of the humanitarian aspects of studying and shaping the urban environment, argued for possible approaches to creating a conceptual model of a university city.

The Scientific Forum brought together the results of basic urban studies with social and administrative practices in the modern city, analyzed and systematized the problems and researches in the field of cultural topology of the city, created an opportunity for scientific
discussion between Russian and foreign scientists who shared their research experience in the field of public urban space formation and developed scientific cooperation in the field of humanitarian problems in contemporary urban science.
