The XVI Black Sea Festival "Euro Folk" 2019 was opened solemnly and it is going to be held from 4th to 9 th September in two of the most picturesque Bulgarian settlements located on the Southern Black Sea coast.
More than 1000 performers from 100 folklore groups will perform at the "Sea stage" in Tsarevo and "Kremikovtsi" stage in Kiten. The audience will be able to get acquainted with the folklore and culture of Iran, Croatia and Bulgaria. The first competitive concert of the musical forum presernted a diverse music and dance program, including customs, songs, mummers traditions, Bulgarian rhythms, complex authentic round dances and choreographies, typic for the seventh ethnographic areas of Bulgaria.
Special guest of the opening ceremony of the Black Sea Festival was the mayor of Tsarevo Municipality - Eng. Georgi Lapchev. As a host of the cultural event, he expressed his gratitude and joy that the town is becoming a center for the preservation and spreading of traditional folklore arts: "16th years later, the Black Sea Festival "Euro folk" is here again at the stage in Tsarevo - here, where the long path has began. The path that develops the forum and gives a field for performances of more and more groups who present their valuable history through the folklore".
Greeting all the participants, Mr Kaloyan Nikolov president of the European Association of Folklore Festivals announced the contest as officially opened. The event is an authorized qualification round of the system of the World Association of Folklore Festivals.
With the colorful presentation of their national creativity, the Dance Company "Mitan" from Ardabil (Islamic Republic of Iran) and the performers of KUD Pušća - Zagreb (Croatia) contribute to the important work of preserving and spreading the identity of the peoples.
The groups are evaluated in 9 categories and 2 age groups. Participants compete for honorable sings of the event, laureate titles, awards and recommendations for participation in another festivals and championships. The jury commission, leaded by the Chairman Maestro Georgi Yankov (a music expert and choirs' conductor) accompanying by Mr Damyan Damyanov (a choreographer) and Mrs Mariana Nutsova (an ethnologist and program director of the Internet TV channel EuroFolkTV), will define the winners of first awards Golden "Orpheus" in the categories and the winners of Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus".
The following participants were awarded with Golden "Orpheus" during the first festival concert:
- Ensemble for folklore dances and songs "Ograzhdenski glasove" at "Dr Petar Beron 2008" Community center - Lebnitsa village, Sandanski municipality (Bulgaria)
- Dobrinka Statelova from the Group for old urban songs "Beli ruzhi" at "Napredak 1870" Community center - Lyaskovets, Veliko Tarnovo municipality (Bulgaria)
- Folklore trio "Avliga" at "Peyo Kracholov Yavorov 1978" Community center - Dupnitsa, Kyustendil municipality (Bulgaria)
On September 7th, starting at 17 o'clock more than 750 performers will participate in the "Parade of Nations". The procession will start from the Kiten Mayoralty hall along the "Strandzha" Str. and "Atliman" Str, to the Stage at the Kremikovtsi Hotel Complex, where the official awarding and closing ceremony of the forum will take place on the same date at 22 o'clock.
