On 11th and 12th of July the Bulgarian town of Kiten hosted the XVI Folklore Festival "Euro Folk - Black Sea 2020". Absolute winner of this year's competition is the Mummers club "Mirkovo" (Mirkovo village, Bulgaria). During the official ceremony, masked participants led by Mr Iliycho Lalchev received the Grand Prix Golden "Orpheus". First prize Golden "Orpheus" in category "Folklore songs - processed folklore, children's age group" was granted to School of folklore singing "Slaveyche" (Sliven, Bulgaria) with artistic leader Mrs Petya Grigorova. The group who won the Golden "Orpheus" in the category "Folklore dances" is the Club "Yambolsko nastroenie" (Yambl, Bulgaria) led by Mrs Maya Barbazonova. The prize in the category "Folklore songs - individual performers" went to Penka Gergova (Gorna Kremena village, Bulgaria), whose artistic leader is Mr Milcho Romanski. Within the folklore festival, the TV team of "EurofolkTV" made a video of the song "Pesen za Bulgaria" (Song for Bulgaria) in performance of the group from Gorna Kremena village. Dance group "Rodopski kristal" (Madan, Bulgaria) led by Mrs Ekaterina Lazarova won the Golden "Orpheus" in the category "Group of folklore dances - authentic folklore". Winners in the final standings presented performances with high artistic values and fascinated the audience of the forum that was live broadcasted on the social media platforms of EAFF and on the website of EurofolkTV. Participants in one of the most colorful events of the Music Feasts "Euro Folk" held on the auspices of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF, were assessed by authoritative jury consisted by: Mr Damyan Damyanov - choreographer, Mrs Mariana Nutsova - ethnologist, script writer and director. The chairman of the jury - Maestro Georgi Yankovwathed an assessed the performances from a distance. In his speech, the President of EAFF, Mr. Kaloyan Nikolov thanked for the assistance in organizing the cultural event of Tsarevo Municipality, Primorsko Municipality and Kiten Town Hall, as well as all participants who did not stop spreading folklore despite the difficult situation in Bulgaria and the world. "Event Vacation" Travel Agency took care of the stay of the performers and the "Kremikovtsi" Complex kindly hosted the event in the town of Kiten. Participants will also receive points for ranking in the World Folklore Rankings, an initiative of the World Association of Folklore Festivals - WAFF. The summer music festival created unforgettable moments related to the magic of artistic music and dance traditions, customs and folklore of all participants who are looking forward to its next edition!
