A new project of the "Northern Rainbow" Culture Development Foundation of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East - International Award in the field of performing arts „Folk-Star” has been completed in St. Petersburg. The award was established by the foundation in honor of its 10th anniversary and contributes to the development of people's diplomacy and ethnocultural diversity of the peoples of the Russian Federation, strengthening friendship and cultural cooperation between creative teams of different countries, forming a respectful attitude towards the traditions and customs of other ethnic groups among the younger generation and strengthening civil unity.

The European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF), the Committee for Interethnic Relations and the Implementation of Migration Policy in St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities rendered great support to the “Folk-Star” International Award. Over 400 performers from 9 countries - Croatia, China, Iran, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia - became the participants of the Award. Identification of the winners of the International Award “Folk-Star” took place in 2 rounds. According to the results of the 1st round, only 14 best nominees made it to the 2nd round.

On December 6, a live broadcast of the Award Ceremony took place, and the winners of the 2nd round - 7 winners of the International Award “Folk-Star” were identified. The President of the “Northern Rainbow” Foundation Alexandra Borisova presented the Grand Jury of the festival, which included experts from 7 countries - Malaysia, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Armenia, Latvia, and Russia.

The participants of the Award were greeted by the director of the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities Valery Nikolaev, the President of the European Association of Folklore Festivals Kaloyan Nikolov and members of the international jury. Spectators from all over the world watched live broadcasting of the gala concert of the “Folk-Star” nominees. According to the results of the jury's voting, the winners of the International Folk-Star Award are as follows:

2) Student Fashion Theater "Campus", Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia
3) Markeev Nikita, Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad region, Russia
4) Syromyatnikova Maria, Krest-Khaldzhai village, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia
5) Roverina Mandala, Bandar Lampung, Indonesia
6) “ARG” ensemble, Kerman, Iran
7) "People's collective" Georgian dance ensemble "Sikharuli", Saint-Petersburg, Russia
