On March 6, 2021, 9 years have passed since the death of Iliуan Nikolov - President of Euro Folk Academy, founder and chairman of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF and the World Association of Folklore Festivals - WAFF.

Iliyan Nikolov dedicated 16 years of his life to the preservation and dissemination of folklore music values.

History will remember him as the creator of Festival № 1 in Europe for traditional folklore arts - Stara Planina Fest "Balkan Folk", held annually in Veliko Tarnovo. Iliyan Nikolov defined the Festival as "A miracle born of the strong spirit of the Bulgarian people." His big human heart, his immeasurable love for the Bulgarian homeland and nation, his sincere attitude to the Bulgarian and world folklore heritage gave him the strength to organize and hold tens of national, European and world festivals of Music Feasts "Euro Folk".

On May 21, 2016, the Director General of UNESCO - Irina Bokova, the President of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF - Kaloyan Nikolov and the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo - Daniel Panov unveiled a monument in his honor.

Let us recall the life of the public figure and his work on the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage with the help of the two-part film "In Memoriam" (Part 1 - Part 2) and the film about the traditions bequeathed to future generations, and about the unveiling ceremony of the Monument of Iliyan Nikolov by the Director General of UNESCO.
