The Balkan Folk Festival is held in the city of Edirne, Turkey and is a concomitant event of the 662th edition of Turkey 's largest Festival oil wrestling, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.The festival is included in the cultural program of the Municipality of Edirne.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Edirne, Non-profit Association "Communities, Traditions, Culture" - Varna and the Varna Tourist Chamber in partnership with Turkish-Bulgarian Society for Education, Culture, Mutual Aid and Solidarity from the city of Edirne and with the assistance of the Consulate General of Bulgaria in the city of Edirne.

More than 700 participants from Bulgaria and Turkey took part in the three concerts on July 1 and 2. Nearly 600 performers from all over Bulgaria presented dance and song folklore from various ethnographic areas. They are representatives of 37 creative collectives from 27 community centers in the country.

The forum was opened by Deputy-Mayor of Edirne, Mr. Erturul Tanrakulu, and by Mr. Hakan, director of the Directorate of Culture in the Municipality of Edirne.

During the Gala dinner, on July 2, at the Lalezar restaurant, which is located on the banks of the Maritsa River, certificates and plaques were presented to the groups by officials and representatives of the Municipality of Edirne.

The festival was broadcasted by local and national media.
