The magic of Bulgarian folklore will not be lost as long as there are awake Bulgarians to keep its fire alive. This is the main goal that the municipality of Chelopech puts in holding the International folklore festival "Golden Dust", the first edition of which took place in 2014, but continues to this day. Traditionally, the festival is held in the recreation and entertainment park "Korminesh" in the village of Chelopech, and over time the event gained popularity not only within the Balkan Peninsula, but also beyond it. Over the years, not only a number of Bulgarian folklore groups have taken part in "Golden Dust", but also groups from countries from almost all continents - Argentina, Mexico, India, China, Singapore, South Korea, Costa Rica, Japan, Taiwan, Peru, Indonesia and others. This makes "Golden Dust" the most international event in the Chelopech region and a true celebration of international relations. During the festival, the guests can enjoy dances and songs, both from Bulgarian folklore and from that of the countries - guests. Its interesting moments are the competition program, where the winner gets the opportunity to be a guest again next year, together with the foreign formations, the people in the square (megdan), the flag parade, etc. In 2023, a special award was presented for the first time - provided especially from the Association of Choreographers in Bulgaria. The chairman of the association, Hristo Dimitrov, was personally present for the ceremony, while the mayor of Chelopech, Alexi Kesyakov, symbolically lit the beautiful festival fire, which has become a symbol of the event. The festival usually takes place between Thursday and Sunday, opening on Thursday with the evening concerts of international folklore groups. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors to the event can enjoy a competition program with Bulgarian folklore songs and dances, presented by ensembles from all over the country. The Festival "Golden Dust" is a key element of the Chelopech municipality's policy for the development of event tourism in the region and its promotion, both among Bulgarians and foreigners. The organizers from Chelopech say that they hope through the festival to "build bridges of friendship" between different nations and cultures. And the popularity of the previous editions of "Golden Dust" clearly shows that the idea enjoys a solid success.
