From May 7 to 12, 2025, Veliko Tarnovo will become the global capital of folk art, bringing together the best performers from different corners of the world. The X World Cup of Folklore – an event of international prestige, organized under the auspices of the European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF) and licensed by the World Association of Folklore Festivals (WAFF) – will provide a stage for tradition, competitive spirit, and the authentic beauty of folk creativity.

The festival is part of the elite Championship system of folklore and will take place alongside the Balkan Folk Festival “Balkan Folk” and the Bulgarian National Folklore Championship “Euro Folk.” This unique synergy between a competitive and festival format guarantees an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators, who will be able to enjoy live performances through “EurofolkTV” on tv.eurofolk.com, YouTube (@TVeurofolk), and social media platforms Facebook (EurofolkTV, EAFForg).

Vocal groups, folk choirs, dance ensembles, folklore groups, brass and folklore orchestras, ritual groups, old urban song formations, as well as solo performers, duets, and trios can participate in the competition program. Whether you are an established artist or an enthusiastic lover of traditional arts, this is your chance to step onto the international stage and rank in the world folklore rankings.

Performances will be evaluated by a specialized jury authorized by EAFF based on three main criteria: technique and complexity of the performance, artistic presentation (costumes, props, repertoire choice), and stage behavior (audience interaction, artistry, charisma). Evaluation will be done on a 60-point scale, and the jury will ensure strict adherence to the regulations.

The best will be awarded prestigious distinctions, including the Grand Prix World Cup of Folklore™ – a gold medal and diploma, as well as silver and bronze medals for second and third place. In addition to recognition and international prestige, the winners will receive vouchers for participation in the World Folklore Championship “World Folk” and special prizes totaling 2,000 euros. Additional awards, such as nominations for higher ranks in the Championship system, professional video recording of performances, and individual recognitions for outstanding performers and artistic directors, make the event even more significant. All participants will receive certificates and tangible prizes, and those honored with the titles Maestro and Maestro Academic will receive special diplomas, which will be officially presented in their municipalities.
