From 7 to 11 May 2026, Veliko Tarnovo will once again be the place where folklore speaks all languages. The 29th edition of the Old Mountain Festival “Balkan Folk” gathers thousands of performers from Bulgaria, Europe, Asia, Africa and North America – a vibrant mix that turns the city into a living encyclopedia of traditions.

The festival is part of the “Euro Folk” Music Holidays under the aegis of EAFF – a partner of UNESCO. All performances are professionally recorded, and the strongest moments reach viewers around the world through EurofolkTV. The result? Bulgarian folklore stands shoulder to shoulder with international traditions on a stage of real prestige.

Over the years, nearly 200,000 singers, dancers and musicians have taken part in “Balkan Folk”. There is no competition here – only energy, authenticity and the pure joy of sharing your culture. Veliko Tarnovo comes alive with concerts, parades and meetings that leave memories for a lifetime.
