The 10th International Symposium on Traditional Pottery will take place from 22 to 28 June 2026 at the Vytautas Valiušis Ceramics Museum in Leliūnai, Utena District, Lithuania. Traditional ceramic and pottery masters from different countries are invited to present works representative of their cultural heritage and to share their knowledge, techniques, and creative discoveries during a week of collaborative work and professional exchange. The symposium will be held in an inspiring environment dedicated to the preservation and development of traditional ceramics. The museum, founded by third-generation ceramic artist Vytautas Valiušis, houses a significant collection of traditional ceramic art. The museum’s workshop studio is fully equipped with pottery wheels, kilns, and all necessary tools for professional work. Theme of the 2026 Symposium: Leavened Ceramics During the symposium, participants will explore and experiment with various leaven-based and fermentation-inspired ceramic techniques and materials. The Organisers Will Provide: Ceramic materials and professional equipment. Pottery wheels and electric kilns (300–500 L capacity; firing temperatures ranging from 980–1060 °C, with a maximum of 1260 °C). Organisation of a public exhibition of participants’ works. Accommodation and meals during the symposium Cultural excursions. Participation Conditions: Applications are open to experienced folk artists and craftsmen capable of demonstrating traditional techniques from their region, such as wheel throwing, glazing, or other decorative methods. Each participant is expected to bring and donate one traditional artwork representing the cultural heritage of their country. The donated works will be exhibited during the international exhibition held as part of the symposium and will subsequently enrich the museum’s collection.
