I. International Ethnic Folklore Festival (Kathmandu)

Kathmandu, Nepal's capital, is set in a valley surrounded by the Himalayan mountains, is a melting pot of cultures and a rich mix of the east and west, the old and the new, where tradition jostles with modernity. Kathmandu is an incredibly diverse, historic city with amazing architecture, exquisite wood carvings and metal craft which showcase the skills of the Newar artisans of centuries ago. Hinduism and Buddhism have co-existed in Kathmandu valley from time immemorial and the valley residents make little distinction as they worship in both Hindu and Buddhist shrines.

Festival Description:

International Folklore Festival is characterized by the unique format of the event, variety of folklore and performing features of dances, from all corners of the Globe, openness to the new, combination of entertainment and high artistic level of participants’ performance, where the dance and cultures of the World UNITE in the heart of NEPAL’s Capital Kathmandu. It also focuses on cultural & Tourism concepts with a combination of luxurious comfort of the artistic groups.

Admission to the Festival:

• Festival Organization will provide space to all folklore dancing groups and also equally to all kinds of the Dancing/Musical groups who want to share our stage for their cultural project promotions, Dancing School / Academy Promotions, College/University Dance Group Promotions & Music Album Promotions.
• Festival Organization will select the best 10 groups from 4 corners of the World.

• Festival is open to host all dancing and musical performance groups, folk, classical, semi Folk & classical, fusions, marching bands, oriental & Modern dance groups etc.
• Groups are allowed to perform with live music or CD player.
• Participants of the Music Bands should at least be 5.
• Participants of the group members should be of any age starting from 8+.
• Groups should get the Flight Tickets and Travel Insurance by their own.

Performance Details:

• The Group should perform 3-4 different folk dances with 10/15 minutes programs each 2 times a day at provided venues. Group should provide 2 workshops & 1 road show in the festival.
• The group has to take part in all programs, the festival organizers made its whole period and do not undertake any other performances, during the festival period they have no right to cancel any program without any approval from the Festival Committee.
